Planning For The Future

When planning for your future, I think it is important to consider the likely possibility that the Future will not resemble anything you could confidently anticipate.

Which is to say: given the extreme and ever-quickening acceleration in science/technology, the seeming rapid evolution in the minds and attitudes of a portion of our population, and the great mercurial Unknown of climate change/earth change/celestial cockfuckery and etc., it is very possible that what we currently understand as life as we know it will not resemble such in 30, 10, even 5 years from now.

If you are in college, or high-school, or you are in your 30’s and buckling-down and finally getting “serious” about your career—you ought to keep in mind that the nature of your chosen field could radically change. You ought to keep in mind that basic understandings of the exchange of currency could radically change. You ought to keep in mind that the basic mechanisms of human communication could radically change. You ought to keep in mind that the basic day-to-day routine may radically change.

This is not necessarily an ominous thing at all. But it is simply something to keep in mind. There is an inherent need for flexibility on your part here.

And I am of the opinion that the best thing you could do in the face of such uncertainty is radically follow your own path, your own personal truth.
