Breaking The Bruno Borges Code

As you may know by now if you have been following the story, Bruno Borges, a 24-year-old psychology student, vanished from his family’s home on March 27—leaving behind a temple-like room with coded words on the walls as well as in 14 books.

Great mystery surrounded these encrypted words, but now the origin of the code can finally be revealed. Is it Enochian? A strange channeled alien language? WHERE IS THIS CODE FROM??!

Try: The Junior Woodchucks’ Guide.

The Junior Woodchucks’ Guide, my friends…the one Huey, Dewey, and Louie use.

This book right here:

Inside the book is the code:

And here is the key to the code that Borges’ family has just found:

They warned that even with the key, it has been very difficult to translate his writings.

Important point: it is apparently only one code of several that Borges used. A few others can be found on a site built to crowd-source translators of the books and other materials, “Decipher The Book.”

In fact, I just used one of the “code keyboards” on the site to start translating a few lines. Note: I have to translate everything twice because Portuguese is not my native language.

If you want to give the translation a shot, use the Decipher The Book site. I’ve taken a photo of the code cipher in my notebook, in case you want to use that instead:

And here is a sample page, if you want to give it a try:

There’s still a lot of holes to this story, as well as wild rumors (for example, the one about Borges’ supposed twin)—so it’s entirely possible I’m getting some of this wrong.

But there you go.
