I sometimes feel, when writing about this Bruno Borges story, that it is sort of this “pre-planned” thing where every step along the story is like one more plot-point for this “movie”…he disappears, there is a media frenzy, his family publishes the manuscripts he leaves behind, the books become bestsellers, he becomes an internationally famous metaphysical writer/guru, and then one day he steps out of like this obscure gas station in Cincinnati with a baseball cap and a huge beard like Forrest Gump when he did that “running across the United States” thing and he reveals himself and like doves fly down from the sky at that moment and…
Anyway. That’s how it feels like following this story. I may have embellished a little bit.
Unsurprisingly, given the hype, Bruno’s first book, TAC – Knowledge Absorption Theory has just become a bestseller in Brazil and I think might have sold out of its initial 200,000 copy run. Another 10,000 copies are being printed up right now.
TAC reached #20 on the bestseller list for PublishNews, which, considering the fact that the young man is a first-time published author, and the publishing imprint is relatively small, is pretty good. So good, in fact, that the second volume of the series, Path to Absolute Truth, will be released in a couple of months.
Bruno Borges is still missing. Commented his sister Gabriella recently on the situation (please note this quote ran through Google Translate; I’ve trimmed slightly where it doesn’t make sense):
It’s a roller coaster of emotions. There are days when we are better, stronger, and some are not. All this situation, the attacks that we suffered in those four months…We just hope he does not delay any longer, we want to have news.
The Civil Police, on the other hand, seem to believe that he is essentially in hiding in order to promote the books.
TAC – Knowledge Absorption Theory has, as far as I know, not been translated to English or other languages yet. If you are still interested in picking up a copy, try the official website.
