And so here we have a brand-new trailer made for Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, for an “unrestored” 70mm print of the film that will be returning to theaters in time for its 50th anniversary.
A find this *so exciting* as it’s pretty much my favorite film, and sort of re-contextualizes it more for like audiences now: really sets up the central drama of the thing, with Dave/Hal and the Monolith mystery on the moon.
I only watch this film every few years or so—it’s not a “quick” viewing—but it has a near religious-significance to me. Especially the entire ending sequence, which is perfect & what I think the immediate “afterlife” looks/feels like (complete with super-compressed life-review and reincarnation sequence).
Every time I re-watch this trailer I get chills…every time.
