“There he goes. One of God’s own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.”
—Hunter S. Thompson, “Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas”
Welcome to Butterfly Language, a look at the world inside and outside my head!
This is going to be more of a shorter “housekeeping” sort of post, but I would be remiss if I didn’t note that today is the more-or-less official “birthday” of MKUltra.
Now: I knew someone, very well, who I am about 85% sure was involved in the original MKUltra. I realize that when someone says something like that, your reaction might be:
But no, in terms of the actual original MKUltra studies, in a clinical setting, seemingly to treat depression & other issues in unsuspecting citizens…that’s what I’m talking about. And their most key feature—the actual MKUltra stories as opposed to the highly-embroidered ones—is their unique blend of the banal and the pants-shitting terrifying.
And that’s enough about that.
If you would like to do some further reading on the subject—albeit within a highly-infused pop-culture smoothie—you can read my posts:
As I’ve discussed on Twitter (@matrix_praxis), I am currently pulling out of Drafts and back into the light of day a number of previously published posts.
They include, for your reference:
I won’t be “reinstating” all my past posts, but just those that I think adds to the vast manic tapestry of this site.
Also as I mentioned on Twitter (@matrix_praxis), I think I’m going to relaunch my entertainment site Fantasy Merchant. Part of this is because, quite frankly—if I’m going to be 100% excruciatingly honest—posting & video blogging about straight-up movies, TV, and comic books is the sort of low-hanging fruit that can help fund this more rarified operation here on Butterfly Language.
I made a new logo, but I have a bit more to go with the relaunch. As opposed to its first reiteration, which was more-or-less anonymous, I’m probably just going to “brand” Fantasy Merchant as being a “me” project.
As I always say: I’m the “Manic Pixie Dream Girl” reality, give about 10-15 years. Might as well make a franchise out of it.
Hoping to do Week in Review tomorrow—have tons of articles & posts to read!
I’ll leave you with this seasonably-themed surprisingly-edgy Bugs Bunny snippet…”I Want An Easter Egg.”
Have a good Saturday.
