FBI Issues “Conspiracy Theory” Warning, Aleister Crowley’s House Burns Down Again, And Other Fun Stuff

What a time to be alive, True Believers!

Let’s start with a recent FBI report connecting the threat of terrorism with…conspiracy theories!

Per the document dated May 30, 2019 from their Phoenix field office:

“The FBI assesses these conspiracy theories very likely will emerge, spread, and evolve in the modern information marketplace, occasionally driving both groups and individual extremists to carry out criminal or violent acts…”

Specific conspiracy topics named in the document include QAnon, Pizzagate, and Sandy Hook “Truthers.”

However, the FBI report also includes the belief that what fuels these crazy conspiracy theorists, in part, is (emphasis mine):

…the uncovering of real conspiracies or cover-ups involving illegal, harmful, or unconstitutional activities by government officials or leading political figures.”

The specific “real conspiracies” are not mentioned in the document…but one wonders if they include a really rich pedophile with international connections to politicians/royalty/bilionaires/celebrities who owned a private island and wanted to create a race of superior humans using his DNA.

So the basic idea is…we seem to be in an Era of Revelation–where “real life conspiracies” are uncovered & unraveled every day.

At the same time, we have “weaponized conspiracy theories” being pushed through social media…often by the same shadowy organizations suspected of being involved in the “real life” conspiracies!

So I guess my question is…what is defined as an “acceptable” conspiracy theory to talk about? When something that is turning out to be very real, like the Epstein business, sounds exactly like a “crazy conspiracy theory”?

This report seems to be a precursor of the greater removal of any “conspriracy”-related material off of publicly available online platforms, especially in the lead-up to the 2020 U.S. election.

But its timing is also very interesting, when one considers “viral” social media events like the “Storm Area 51” meme in mid-July. If you were in the government and wanted to identify potential “dangerous” fringe believers who would be motivated to act in “real life”…wouldn’t you just check Facebook for those stating their intention to “invade” a military installation?

This is all rather fascinating in light of the fact that current popular culture–including movies, TV, video games, and comic books–wholesale borrows & steals from any number of conspiracy theories (and theorists) floating about.

And then…of course…one must consider the coming “Post-Information Age”…where the sort of unlimited access to data and the “hidden books” that we’ve seen on the internet over the last 20 years starts to dwindle away in favor of the corporate/political gatekeeping of very specific “acceptable” information.
