The Alchemical “Burt Wonderstone”

Burt Wonderstone: “Mr. Gray. What you do is not magic. It is monkey porn.”

Steve Gray: “I understand. It’s natural for a dying leaf to be frightened by the autumn wind.”

OK, here you go: possibly the most “deep,” esoteric analysis of the movie The Incredible Burt Wonderstone you will ever read.

You’re welcome.

Prepare to have your world-view, your religious identification, and even your very perception of reality altered forever—all through this seemingly insignificant 2013 movie starring Steve Carell and Jim Carrey. We’re gonna talk Simon Magus, we’re gonna talk alchemy, we’re gonna talk psychedelic plants…it’s gonna be wild. My Life As A Hypersigil, Part One

giuuhws.jpg

The “hypersigil” or “supersigil” develops the sigil concept beyond the static image and incorporates elements such as characterization, drama, and plot. The Spear Of Destiny by Trevor Ravenscrofta story about reincarnation, alchemy, evil sorcerers, secret societies, soulless doppelgängers, sex magick, possession by alien entities, Aztec peyote, the Akashic Record, questionable homeopathic practices, psychic vaginal ectoplasm, a sacred Christian relic that could rend the very fabric of time as we know it, and, yes, Nazis—is one of the most elaborate and utterly bizarre conspiracy meta-narratives you will ever encounter

Aleister Crowley, This Was Your Life

ouoh.jpg

It is necessary, in this world, to be made of harder stuff than one’s environment.
–Aleister Crowley, “Moonchild”

I’ve found that if you do enough research on conspiracy theories or the occult, all roads link back to Crowley. Magician, poet, author, mountain-climber, yoga practitioner, drug-addict, and occasional maniac, Crowley was one of the decisive influences on modern Western occult philosophy and practice. (And it’s pronounced “Croly,” by the way.)
