Ruminations By A Rogue Insect On The Possibility Of Evolution

A tremendous amount of conspiracy lore focuses on the idea that there is an inhuman cabal of evil who has plotted since the dawn of time to overthrow good Christians everywhere. It’s not always Christians placed in the metaphorical lions den here…but it’s often Christians, or some other very traditional and conservative culture.

In this cosmology, human beings are the very pinnacle of God’s creation here on Earth, the end-point in a divine plan. There is no creature on earth as important or developed than man.

“Transcendence” And The Transhumanist Messiah

“Look at the sky. The clouds. We’re healing the ecosystem. not harming it. Particles join the air, building themselves out of pollutant. Forests can be regrown. Water so pure, you can drink out of any river. This is your dream.”
–Dr. Will Caster, “Transcendence”

Is AI the new messiah or the Antichrist? This is the basic question posed by the 2014 movie Transcendence, directed by Wally Pfister and executive produced by Christopher Nolan. Johnny Depp theoretically stars in this film (more on that shortly) as computer scientist Dr. Will Caster, a man who creates a sentient computer.

What The Singularity Really Is

tapehead.jpg

It is not the technology itself that is our “future”—the AI, the Cloud, becoming cyborgs, and so on. Rather, they are “mirrors” or templates for what the next stage of evolution might look and be like.

For example, when you read or watch science fiction in which people are “uploaded” to the Cloud…that’s a very precise metaphor for dimensions in which souls interact without form. The Cloud brings the astral/psychic space, the realm where thoughts are the reality.

Artificial Intelligence is a metaphor for ourselves—how we were created, how we evolved, and our relationship with Creator.

An Ode To The Human Ken Doll

Interviewer: Do you identify as a male, or a female, or somewhere in-between, or not-at-all?

Alves: I define myself as…unique. And special. I don’t want to be like an average person.

One of the topics I follow in the news is body modification. Back in the Nineties, many of these stories focused on mods that reflected “Modern Primitive” and even sort of “Goth” aesthetics…extreme piercings, cuttings, implanting horns, etc. The classic text regarding this subculture was the 1989 RE/Search book Modern Primitives.

Today…the quest to expand the limits of body modding has sort of blended with the reality show plastic surgery vibe, most exemplified by the “living doll” phenomenon: the Human Barbie Doll, and the Human Ken Doll.

Director Paul Schrader On The Future: “There Will Be A Post-Human Species”

dcas.jpg

Director and screenwriter Paul Schrader, who has worked on such classic movies as Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and American Gigolo, recently had a dire prediction concerning humanity’s future. He told The Hollywood Reporter:

I don’t think we as a species will outlive this century. The world is going to be fine. We’re not.

The Man Who Is Becoming An Elf (A Modern Archetype?)

ljhjlkh.jpg

In a world where people spend thousands of dollars to become a “real” Superman, a “Human Ken Doll,” and even a literal Cat-Woman, the story of Argentinian Luis Padron should not seem that unusual anymore. The 24-year-old Padron has spent over $30,000 on various surgeries and procedures intended to make him look like (and some might say, “turn him into”) a pale white-haired elf.
